As some of you may be aware, over recent years I normally have a little side project in the run-up to Christmas, the Doodle Advent Calendar.
From the 1st December until Christmas Eve I would do a little Christmas themed doodle and post it on my social channels. Nothing extravagant, just a bit of fun.
After doing it for around 6-7 years I found it was getting a little tricker to do and wanted to step away from it. Last year I decided to mix it up by creating Christmas Town; a daily festive character design that I posted in the build up to the big day. (You can see that here).
This left me thinking about this year. Do I return to the Doodle Advent Calendar? Continue with Christmas Town? Have a year off from it all? Or do I do something different.
I then thought about my other little passion project, The Agency. If you aren’t familiar with it, it is a comical look at life in a creative studio, run by the Creative Director Seb.
I wondered if I could bring some festive cheer to this comic and I thought what better way to do this than merge it with the Doodle Advent Calendar. Ultimately creating The Agency Doodle Advent.
In a nutshell, each working day there will be a post based around a situation within a creative agency over the festive period. Whether it’s the night of the Christmas party, or it's the ongoing fight of trying to get Christmas songs played in the studio.
Like the Doodle Advent Calendar, this will ultimately be a really quick pencil sketch with the hope of raising a smile.
Whilst I appreciate some of the jokes may go over the heads of people who haven’t experienced a creative studio, I do hope as a whole it is something people can associate with and enjoy.
I will be posting the calendar on The Agency’s Instagram page daily and on here at weekly intervals.
I hope you enjoy it and more importantly have a wonderful festive period!
