Rubber Penguin is the creative home for Dan Bailey, an award winning UK-based designer and illustrator.

With extensive experience within the creative industry and a passion for crafting unique brand personalities, I collaborate closely with agencies and brands of all sizes to help them tell their story through smart design and distinctive illustration.

Once upon a time...

My career started within the in-house design team of a well-known fast-food giant (bada ba ba baaaa). Since those fries-filled days, I’ve established myself as a freelance designer and illustrator, working with global brands, challenger companies, agencies, and brilliant individuals.

Many years ago, I chose to leave the full-time world behind in order to grow, learn, and challenge myself as a freelance designer and person. I thought this adventure would only last about 6 months, and I would return to the security of a full-time job – boy, was I wrong.

Months turned to years, and more and more opportunities presented themselves. I gained new skills, met some incredible people and worked with some of the finest agencies, brands and human beings.

Armed with a diverse skillset, a passion for illustration and a hunger to constantly learn and improve, I have been incredibly fortunate to earn a living from doing what I love. Whether I am designing or illustrating, my mantra is simple – to create unique, characterful work that stands out and makes an impact.
